Calibre is intended to be used by security professionals as part of authorised surveys, inspections, and assessments. It should only be used in environments where the operator has permission from the property owner, occupier, or organisation to conduct wireless analysis.

A Clear Boundary

What Calibre Does, and Does Not Do

Calibre is an analysis and documentation tool. It is designed to help operators see and record the wireless environment that is already present and detectable, within a clearly defined boundary.

Calibre is designed to

Observe wireless networks that are broadcasting within range
Record SSID, BSSID, channel, signal strength, encryption type, and vendor information
Help identify unfamiliar, duplicate, hidden, or misconfigured networks
Support structured documentation for professional reporting

Calibre is not designed to

Attack, disrupt, or interfere with networks or devices
Bypass, crack, or weaken encryption
Intercept, capture, or store the content of private communications
Provide unauthorised access to networks, devices, or accounts

Operator Responsibilities

Using Calibre Responsibly

Operators are responsible for how the platform is used during a survey. The following principles apply to all use of Calibre.

Obtain Authorisation

Confirm permission from the property owner, occupier, or client organisation before conducting any wireless survey.

Comply With the Law

Ensure all activity complies with relevant laws and regulations in the jurisdiction where the survey takes place.

Use Findings Constructively

Use findings to support security recommendations and risk reduction, not to exploit any weaknesses identified.

Handle Data Securely

Manage survey data, including network names and device information, in line with client agreements and your own data protection obligations.

Be Transparent

Where appropriate, be clear with clients about the scope and purpose of wireless analysis as part of the wider survey.

Seek Advice When Unsure

If there is any doubt about whether an activity is appropriate or authorised, pause and seek guidance before proceeding.

Data Handling

How Survey Data Is Stored

Survey data captured by Calibre, including network details, signal readings, and operator notes, is stored locally on the operator's device. The platform itself does not transmit survey data to third parties.

Export and sharing of data is controlled by the operator
Operators remain responsible for the secure storage and handling of exported reports
